Public Hearing Notice

The City of Doniphan will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 9:00 am at the Doniphan City Hall located at 124 Jefferson St., Doniphan, Missouri to discuss the city's submission of two Emergency applications to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. In order to qualify as an emergency under regulations of the State of Missouri, the project will be evaluated using each of the following criteria: Seriousness, Immediacy, Uniqueness, and Lack of Sufficient Local Funds.  As part of the hearing process citizens will be asked to comment on the proposed project. The city needs as much local participation as possible in order to reflect the true desires of the community as a whole, as well as the comments relating to the proposed project application. No displacement of persons will be proposed

The City of Doniphan is requesting funds to purchase and demolish one (1) commercial property and demolish four (4) additional commercial properties (seven total buildings) heavily impacted by the 2017 flood. The property owners of the acquired property will participate in a flood buyout and after property purchase, the city will own and maintain the property. Once the acquired property is cleared it will remain as green space in the community. The city will demolish all proposed structures to eliminate the threat to the health and safety of residents and slum and blight. The CDBG portion of the project is approximately $396,062, local cash is $1,000, and local in-kind match is $6,900 for a total project cost of $403,692. All citizens are encouraged to attend in order to comment on the proposed activities
