The Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission (OFRPC) seeks a highly motivated and versatile Community Planning Specialist to lead the development of regional plans focused on transportation, safety, and Solid Waste Management. This role requires a strong focus on planning, writing, data analysis, and multi-jurisdictional collaboration to shape the future of the Butler, Carter, Reynolds, Ripley, and Wayne County region.

The OFRPC was created to facilitate the cooperative effort of its member municipalities and counties in solving problems and planning the future development of human, natural, and economic resources of the Ozark Foothills region. The Commission serves as a guide to local units of government in accomplishing a coordinated and efficient development of the region and the promotion of its public health, safety, general welfare, and economic prosperity in accordance with the area's existing and future needs.

Salary Range: $35,000-$38,000

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development of a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan for the five-county region.
  • Draft the final plan document outlining strategies, projects, and programs to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries.
  • Develop master plans focused on enhancing the network for pedestrians, cyclists, and other non-motorized users.
  • Integrate active transportation priorities into regional and local planning documents to promote health and sustainable mobility.
  • Lead the planning, research, and analysis for the region's Solid Waste Plan.
  • Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies to gather input and build consensus on planning priorities.
  • Develop and implement public outreach and education campaigns to raise awareness and support for plan initiatives.
  • Ensure the plan complies with state and federal regulations.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Community Development, Urban and Regional Planning, Public Policy, Political Science, Geography (GIS), Economics, Demographics, or a closely related field, OR relevant experience working in the transportation/community development/planning field.
  • Must be able to travel regularly and work within the OFRPC region, including some evenings, and occasional overnight travel to state wide meetings and conferences.
  • Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess and maintain an active driver’s license.
  • An impeccable professional presentation.
  • Superior organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple priorities seamlessly.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
