City of Qulin Adopts First-Ever Active Transportation Plan

QULIN, MO – On September 10, 2025, the City of Qulin officially adopted its first-ever Active Transportation Plan (ATP), marking a significant milestone in the city's commitment to enhancing safety, connectivity, and quality of life for all residents. The plan, developed in collaboration with the Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission, is a comprehensive blueprint for improving walking and bicycling infrastructure throughout the community.

The Active Transportation Plan outlines a vision for Qulin where walking and bicycling are safe, convenient, and attractive transportation options. The plan's recommendations are based on extensive community engagement, including a walk audit and public surveys, to identify key priorities for future development.

Key recommendations within the plan include:

·        Proposed Trail Development: The plan identifies potential routes for new trails, offering residents dedicated spaces for recreation and transportation.

·        Crosswalk and Sidewalk Development: Significant focus has been placed on improving and expanding the city's sidewalk network and establishing new, safer crosswalks at critical intersections, with a high-priority location identified at Highway 53 and D Street.

·        Development and Cost Strategies: The plan details actionable steps and potential funding sources to turn these recommendations into reality.
