five-county region is midway between St. Louis, MO, Memphis, TN, and Little
Rock, AR. St. Louis lies 160 miles northeast with Memphis 160 miles to the
south.
The Ozark
Foothills Region has 80,052 residents, a 29.4 percent increase from the 61,862
counted in the 1970 census. Making up this total are Butler County with 40,867
residents, an increase of 21.9 percent over 1970's census; Carter County,
5,941, up 53.2 percent; Reynolds County, 6,689, 9.5 percent; Ripley County,
13,509, an increase 37.8 percent; and Wayne County with 13,259 residents, up
55.1 percent from 1970. The median family income in 1999 for the Ozark
Foothills Region was $16,593.

the average temperature is 31.4 degrees, with the hottest month, July, seeing
