The Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission (OFRPC) is seeking a detailed oriented professional to serve as a Disaster Recovery Coordinator. This person will work on a variety of community and economic development projects providing technical expertise to cities, counties, and non-profit agencies regarding recovery planning, economic development for grant eligible projects, the compilation of state and federal funding proposals, and grant administration. Candidates that are passionate about their work, curious to find solutions for locally identified issues, and who thrive working on a diverse portfolio of work are ideal for this position. Employees who demonstrate strong initiative and self-motivation, increasing levels of responsibility, and excellent personal relation skills in prior positions are ideal.

The OFRPC was created to facilitate the cooperative effort of its member municipalities and counties in solving problems and planning the future development of human, natural, and economic resources of the Ozark Foothills region. The Commission serves as a guide to local units of government in accomplishing a coordinated and efficient development of the region and the promotion of its public health, safety, general welfare, and economic prosperity in accordance with the area's existing and future needs.

Salary Range: $35,000-$40,000

Areas of Responsibility

This position would prepare grant applications for assigned projects and programs from agencies such as the Economic Development Administration, Missouri Department of Economic Development, Community Development Block Grant, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Delta Regional Authority, etc. The position will conduct research, including financial analysis, budgets, needs assessments and project completion reports, prepares periodic and annual progress reports and identifies private and non-profit partnership opportunities.  Mostly local travel, but occasional travel to Jefferson City and out of state will be required. The Disaster Recovery Coordinator will serve as a liaison between local, state, and federal partners to speed the recovery process through strategic technical assistance and facilitate the implementation of locally generated disaster recovery projects as part of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy or recovery and resilience plan. The position may work with county-wide hazard mitigation plans.

Minimum Qualifications

·         Related 4-year degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Community Development, Urban and Regional Planning, Public Policy, Political Science, Geography (GIS), Finance, Economics, Sociology, Marketing, Demographics, or a closely related field, OR combination of related field and experience OR an unrelated degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working in the community development/planning field.

·         Must be able to travel regularly and work within the OFRPC region, including some evenings, and occasional overnight travel to state wide meetings and conferences.

·         Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess and maintain an active driver’s license.

·         Strong competency with technology and web-based software.
