Ripley County will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 8:45 AM at the Commissioner Chambers located at the Ripley County Courthouse, 100 Court House Sq Ste 2, Doniphan, MO 63935 to discuss the submission of an application to the Community Development Block Grant COVID-19 (CDBG-CV) program. The county is interested in obtaining all citizens’ input on community development needs within the region. As part of the hearing process, citizens will be asked to verbally assist in the completion of a Needs Assessment document. The document will detail what the residents feel are the strengths and weaknesses of the community. Local participation is needed to reflect the true desires of the region, as well as comments relating to the proposed project application. Activities that are eligible for funding include the improvement of public works, public facilities, county-owned infrastructure and others allowed by law. At least 51% of the funds must be used to benefit low-and-moderate income persons. No displacement of persons will be proposed.
Ripley County is requesting funds for a variety of water distribution improvements to the Public Water Supply District #1. The total project cost is estimated at $500,000. The CDBG-CV request amount is for the total project cost estimate of $500,000. This project, if funded, will meet the low-and-moderate income national objective and will benefit at least 51% of low-and-moderate income persons. All citizens, including those in the targeted area, are encouraged to attend to comment on the proposed activities.
