five-county region is midway between St. Louis, MO, Memphis, TN, and Little
Rock, AR. St. Louis lies 160 miles northeast, with Memphis 160 miles to the
south.

Ozark Foothills Region has 83,376 residents, a 34.8 percent increase
from the 61,862 counted in the 1970 census. Making up this total
are Butler County, with 42,794 residents, an increase of 27.6 percent
over 1970's census; Carter County, 5,941, up 61.5 percent; Reynolds

of 43.8 percent; and Wayne County, with 13,521 residents, up 58.2
